Cold block for 1.5-2 mL tubes / enzyme storage block
[cat. No. 1013 - variant with the lid]
[cat. No. 1013a - variant without the lid]
Cold blocks made for 1.5-2 mL tubes, sometimes referred to as "Eppendorf tubes." Fits 81 tubes.
It is made in the same form factor as a standard 81-wells cryo-storage box that fits in a standard freezer hotel. Use it either for experiments that require chilled conditions or for enzyme storage.
Normally, if you store your enzymes in a cardboard or plastic box, the enzyme solutions may thaw when you take the box out of the freezer for a few minutes (for example, when you need a few minutes to find the right tube). Sometimes, the enzymes may thaw if you keep the freezer door open for a prolonged time. This creates an unintended freeze-thaw cycle, and as a result, the enzymes may lose their activity.
It will not happen if you store your enzymes in this metal rack. It will take much longer to warm up the metal rack, so enzymes are much less likely to thaw.
Made from aluminum.
