Cold block for 0.8 mL shallow deep well 96-well plates

Most "deep well" cold blocks are cut for 2 mL plates. This one isn't — it is machined specifically for the shallow 0.8 mL plate class, which sits about half as deep and will not seat correctly in a full-depth block.

The base tray carries repeats the shape of a typical 96 wells plate, maximizing heat exchange area, so each sample is cooled through its own bottom rather than only through the plate skirt. The lift-off collar drops over the loaded plate and locates it without wedging it — plates come out as easily as they go in. It was designed to a customer's explicit request that it should not be a tight fit.

Machined from solid aluminum and hard anodized. Aluminum carries far more thermal mass than a plastic rack, so a block chilled in an ice bath, a 4 °C fridge or a −20 °C freezer keeps working after it leaves them — useful for RNA and library-prep steps that have to stay cold on the bench.

The bottom of the rack is an SBS / ANSI footprint and engages 10 mm into standard SBS slots, so the block drops into liquid handler decks, shakers and plate racks.

Designed for: 800 µL round-well, V-conical-bottom shallow deep well plates — tested with Thermo Scientific Abgene AB-0859; AB-0765 is the same plate class.

Not for 2 mL / 2.2 mL full-depth deep well plates — for those, use our standard deep well cold block (SKU 1014a).
